What to cook
Popcorn, noodles, rice, marinades, dry rubs, roasted vegetables, snack mixes and umami seasoning.
How much to use & when to add it
Start with 1/4 teaspoon per cup of food and reduce other added salt until you taste it.
Dissolve a little in water for sauces or blend evenly into a dry snack seasoning.
Use this amount as a starting point for flavor, then adjust to your food and taste. If other ingredients bring salt, sweetness or heat, account for those before adding more seasoning.
Kitchen idea: Tamari mushroom glaze
Brown 8 oz mushrooms. Stir 1/4 teaspoon tamari powder into 2 tablespoons water, add to the pan and toss until glossy. Finish with ginger and scallion. Taste before adding either more powder or another salty sauce.
