Flavor & cooking character
Earthy, aromatic, garlicky, gently sweet and warm-spiced.
Satay seasoning is a marinade starter, not necessarily a peanut sauce or a complete skewer recipe. Check ingredients rather than assuming the name proves peanut content or absence. A thin coating, good browning and a separate dipping sauce create useful contrast.
What to cook
Chicken, beef, tofu, mushrooms, skewers, rice bowls and grilled vegetables.
How much to use & when to add it
1 teaspoon per pound of food.
Use this amount as a starting point for flavor, then adjust to your food and taste. If other ingredients bring salt, sweetness or heat, account for those before adding more seasoning.
Kitchen idea: Satay-style mushroom skewers
Toss mushrooms with oil and 1 teaspoon seasoning per pound, thread onto skewers and grill until tender. Serve with rice and cucumber. Offer a peanut or alternative dipping sauce only when suitable for your guests.
