Deeply earthy and savory with balanced sweetness, bitterness, warm cinnamon and a peppery finish.

Coffee bitterness, caramel-like sweetness and salt need a restrained hand. Use a small amount to deepen a dessert rather than assuming more will taste more caramelized. A creamy base makes the balance easier to judge than a dry spoonful.

Coffee, tiramisu-style desserts, cookies, cakes, scones, muffins, pies, overnight oats, icings, glazes, custards, dessert sauces, whipped cream, popcorn, steak and pork.

1/4 teaspoon per serving to begin.

Use this amount as a starting point for flavor, then adjust to your food and taste. If other ingredients bring salt, sweetness or heat, account for those before adding more seasoning.

Stir 1/4 teaspoon seasoning into 3/4 cup yogurt. Rest briefly, taste and sweeten only if needed. Top with sliced banana and toasted oats. Add another small pinch only if you want the coffee note more prominent.
