This blend is useful for a quick chile sauce, but it does not automatically provide the thickness of a prepared enchilada sauce. Start with tomatoes or a recipe-specific thickener, simmer, and taste after reduction. Keep filling seasoning modest until the sauce is ready.

How much to use & when to add it
1 teaspoon per 2 cups of sauce to begin.
Use this amount as a starting point for flavor, then adjust to your food and taste. If other ingredients bring salt, sweetness or heat, account for those before adding more seasoning.
Kitchen idea: Enchilada-style bean skillet
Simmer one can of crushed tomatoes with 1 teaspoon seasoning and a splash of water. Fold in a drained can of beans and heat through. Serve with warm tortillas, onion and cilantro, adding more seasoning after tasting the sauce.
