A dry chermoula seasoning becomes more sauce-like when hydrated with oil and a little water or citrus. Fresh herbs can add another layer, but the dry blend is still useful on its own. Give the aromatics time to soften before serving as a dressing.
What to cook
Fish, shrimp, chicken, chickpeas, carrots, cauliflower, couscous and marinades.
How much to use & when to add it
1 teaspoon per drained can of chickpeas.
Use this amount as a starting point for flavor, then adjust to your food and taste. If other ingredients bring salt, sweetness or heat, account for those before adding more seasoning.
Kitchen idea: Chermoula chickpea salad
Whisk 1 teaspoon seasoning with 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon water. Rest briefly, then toss with one drained can of chickpeas and chopped tomato. Taste for salt and serve with bread or rice.
