Dill Pickle Sumac Dust

Dilly, tangy, garlicky and salty with lemony sumac acidity.

Dill and sumac give a sharp, dry finish that can wake up a creamy or starchy food. The blend is useful where pickle juice would make a snack soggy. Let a dip hydrate briefly before deciding whether it needs more tang or salt.

Popcorn, fries, cucumbers, potato chips, roasted potatoes, pretzels and snack mixes.

1/2 teaspoon per cup of food to begin.

Shake over warm popcorn or fries and toss thoroughly. For cucumbers, season just before serving.

Use this amount as a starting point for flavor, then adjust to your food and taste. If other ingredients bring salt, sweetness or heat, account for those before adding more seasoning.

Stir 1/2 teaspoon dust into 1/2 cup yogurt, fold in chopped drained cucumber and chill briefly. Taste before adding lemon. Serve with potato wedges or flatbread and keep extra seasoning available for individual portions.
